Drift I

Pentalic Marble
51cm x 85cm x 7cm

About.

This was the first work of the Drift series. A study in the rhythms of the forest floor, the work is redolent of the traditions of stone carving whilst questioning our relationship with the natural world.

The Process.

The work was made by arranging dried leaves on the wooden board, which were composed by the artist and the glued in place. The leaves were then scaled up by 100% using traditional measing techniques, and then carved by hand.

The Material.

This piece is carved in Pentalic marble, which is quarried in Greece.
