About.
Part of an on running series of works this piece explores the more abstract qualities of leaves. Canopy invokes movement, fluidity and abstraction as coherent qualities of nature.
The Process.
Hand carved, using a range of chisels and abrasive tools this piece started off as a direct study and evolved into a playful example of texture and form.
The Material.
Carved in the finest quality Statuario Marble, the stone is almost pure white, allowing every chisel mark to sing. The almost flawless white stone, allows light and shade to become the primary medium.
